Admissions information

The standard requirement for admission is that the applicant be a high school graduate. Those who have not graduated from high school but who have satisfied such graduation requirements through the General Educational Development test or through an accredited home study course may also be considered for admission.

An individual who is beyond the age of compulsory education, lacks a high school diploma or its equivalent, and has the Ability To Benefit from training offered by IBC, may be admitted to the Office Technology Diploma Program at the discretion of the school Director. The Ability To Benefit (ATB) will be determined by an admissions test currently the Career Program Admissions test (CPAt), and pre-entry advising.

The college does not require an applicant to have taken business subjects in high school. However, if a person has had previous business courses or experience, advanced standing may be granted.

The Career Program Assessment test (CPAt) is administered to all applicants for full programs as an admissions test. The cut-off score for acceptance, for all programs is 43 Language, 44 Reading, and 42 Numerical, as well as a total scaled score. These are listed under the programs of study in this catalog.

Students can be retested in less than 30 days if an alternate form is used and if there is convincing evidence that 1) The examinee’s performance was influenced by factors other than ability and 2) A significant change is believed to have occurred in the examinee’s relevant knowledge and skills. If all CPAt forms available have been administered to the examinee, a minimum of 30 days must pass between administrations of the same CPAt form.

Applicants interested in enrolling in single classes are not required to meet the admissions requirements previously stated.

Students are allowed to enroll one day after the scheduled start date.
